To start off, a little back story is in order here:
It is becoming more and more apparent that the Reverse Funnel System has been taking the internet marketing community by storm. Never before has an online business opportunity shown the conversion rates for sales so high (upwards of 40%) from such a complete and automated marketing and sales system. Since its inception in August of 2007 (just eight months ago) it has generated over $11million for its members. Some members have been pulling in five figure incomes per week before their first month goes by. Seriously impressive.
Now it uses a very well established company (providing a membership product that, in its niche is unparalleled, from what I researched) as the starting point for a multiple income stream concept within its plan. If it sounds confusing, it really isn't. Just check this link (if you haven't done so already) and sign in to get the whole picture.
Some of the biggest names in the IM (internet marketing) community are involved with the RFS (I'm not allowed to name them specifically, but your eyes would pop if you knew who they were) and they have either become members or JV'd (that's joint venture, for the newbs) with members--interestingly enough, most JV's turn into memberships once they see the big picture. Something to think about, huh?
*Blatant plug here: For you IM'ers out there who might want to investigate JV possibilities (to maybe test it out for yourself) email me (dhfroehlich@cox.net) and I can explain that program to you.
Obviously this business opportunity and money making system works--and very well, at that.
As its popularity and brand recognition grow, many folks are becoming aware of its presence and are looking to learn more. This is where the story takes a turn.
You see, when someone looking for just such a business opportunity finds an ad, or clicks a banner, or follows a link (like in this blog, for example) the intro page that they are directed to is specifically connected to the team member who posted the particular ad, banner, link, etc. This is the way new leads are tracked through the system and credited to a particular affiliate. The ads could all look the same, but an affiliate who posts more ads, or is more strategic with those ads, or links, or whatever is, logically, going to receive more 'hits' to his/her intro page. Their ads are linked to their page and tracked through the entire system as linked to that affiliate.
Now stay with me here.
As a new affiliate comes on board, (especially if they are a newb, ie someone new to internet marketing) there is sometimes a learning curve to go through as they "cut their teeth" in the IM game. You veteran IM'ers remember those days, eh?
Well, those newbs are excited, scared, curious, confused, etc. So the first thing they look for is guidance and training on just how all this IM stuff works. From the technical aspects to the finer nuances of owning and profiting from their new IM business. That training takes form in the RFS support system behind the scenes, and from specific marketing knowledge provided through mentoring by leaders within the organization who excel at particular marketing methods. It is a community for learning skills and growing businesses where there is an open exchange of concepts and ideas. Training conference calls and "Success Partners" are available for the involved marketing member to take advantage of.
Some leading members establish their own specific "team" training as a supplement to what is offered by RFS itself, and those members benefit more exclusively from targeted training based on the specific skills of that particular leading member.
This is where the wheels on the wagon get wobbly.
You see, it's not that there is some kind of unfair advantage with a leading member having focused specialized "team" training; a highly successful member has every right to share their special skills with their own downline in the interest of building a profitable, long-lasting group and helping them succeed. It's the whole point of network marketing. As you build a downline organization, it is in your best interest to offer any and all assistance, guidance, support, information, knowledge, etc. to give a new member the best shot at success. The rest, of course, is up to them.
But what has happened is that there can occur a fracture when, as a marketing tool, certain members from an exclusive "team" within the RFS promote and advertise their specific team group as an advantage or "better path" within the RFS because of the "special extra training" that "just their team" can offer
That in and of itself in not necessarily a problem except for this:
- the advertising methods used by the team members, can harm other members outside the "exclusive team"
- the "extra training" is not exclusively available, but rather, probably collected and organized in a manner easily accessible to newbies.
- all the same training and information is provided by the RFS itself and is also readily available by doing a little research on the internet.
A member places an ad, or blog post, or banner, or whatever form of advertising to attract new leads into his/her 'funnel'. The new "lead" enters the funnel through the capture page and is then "linked" to the member as they progress through the rest of the "funnel" sales process. It's ingenious, really.
But what happens sometimes, is that after going part way through the funnel, the lead will then want to research more about the RFS, whether to see if it's a scam (it's not), or just learn more about what they're getting themselves into. They are exercising their due diligence. Honorable.
However, this is where the wheels come off the wagon:
The lead, or prospect, decides to google any number of keywords associated with the RFS. What they get back is ads or listings for "warnings" about getting in the RFS. Obviously, they are drawn to such an ad (who wouldn't be compelled to click on it--smart marketing) and then are led to a video squeeze page where a "member" talks about the RFS and its marketing system. In fact, the script reads alot like I explained in this paragraph.
The "member" explains that it is good that the "lead" is doing his due diligence and that it was wise that he landed on that page. Wise, because now the "lead" is reassured that the RFS is awesome (and it is) but then is sold the concept that joining this "exclusive team" within the RFS is what will assure his success because of "special success training" that is best offered by this "exclusive" team and not available elsewhere within the RFS.
What really "kicks the dog in the ass" is that the lead is encouraged to re-enter the funnel through their squeeze page using a different email address so that the lead is now tracked through them, not the original member.
Basically, the original member is 'cut out' of the process--even though it was his/her ad that brought them to the funnel in the first place. The lead just wanted to find some legitimate information on the RFS, and was "scavenged" by another member.
This becomes cannibalistic within the organization, and borders on the unethical.
It has happened to me personally, and to at least one other member that I know specifically. I am guessing with the popular rankings that those pages have, it's probably happened a lot more than that. I wouldn't have found out, myself if I hadn't gotten an email from one of my leads saying that they expected to be placed in this other group.
Now this should not be considered an indictment of the RFS or to be construed as a whiny complaint on my part in order to get even with those who scavenged me. I am a big boy, and my success in not determined by situations like this, I am responsible for my own success. And the Reverse Funnel System is still my top pick for business opportunities anywhere on the net.
I wasn't even sure I wanted to write about this experience; I find it bad form to bitch and complain about internal stuff in any industry--it only serves to denigrate the whole lot of us and I think that there's enough skepticism and mistrust for the internet out there without having inside squabbles fueling the fire, so to speak.
I did, however, want to clear the misconception and re-level the playing field. A scenario like above will eventually lead to scaring off decent people who otherwise would become successful entrepreneurs if just led to understand the real value that internet marketing business opportunities will offer them.
I also believe that the tactic above can only be born of a lack-mentality, not an abundance-mentality. Truly, if there is abundance enough for all of us, and there is, then those tactics aren't even necessary; in fact, that very tactic could still be employed if only there were a change in the dialog to leave out the "scavenge" approach. Then, it would be simple, smart marketing.
Now I mentioned that I originally didn't even want to write this piece, except that earlier tonight I got a flash of inspiration while on a RFS call.
In a valiant move, directed by the true spirit of team support and belief in the unlimited abundance available to us all, a top performing marketer within the RFS has released his mentoring and training system to become available to everyone who is a Platinum member; whereas before, it was exclusive to only those joining his specific team or team members.
In basic language it simply means this: the tactics used by some members within the funnel to "scavenge" by means of team training exclusivity are basically done. Finito. Kaput.
It also means that this RFS member (who is a HUGE player) is available to mentor even those newbies that are not a part of his downline group. So now there is even more information, training and advice available to propel any Platinum member looking for the latest and best strategies for building their RFS business. And it's all FREE and available. There is no need nor incentive to now have to "partner with an exclusive team" in order to get any special "insider fast track" or feel like you will be left out or left behind if you didn't.
The opportunities just get more and more abundant.
This is truly "Your Golden Ticket"
